Nestled in the heart of the Cascades, Mt. Bachelor in Oregon is a skier’s paradise, offering a unique blend of exhilarating slopes, breathtaking scenery, and a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Whether you’re carving through fresh powder or enjoying a leisurely run on a groomed trail, the fun of skiing at Mt. Bachelor is unmatched. Here’s why this majestic mountain should be at the top of your winter travel list.

Getting There: How far away is Tetherow from Mt. Bachelor?

It’s a quick 20-minute drive from Tetherow. General parking there is free and is first come, first served. It can fill up fast on a nice day, and we recommend reserving your spot on the Tetherow shuttle. It runs twice daily to the mountain and provides a relaxing, hassle-free way to get to and from your snow day. Must be booked at last one day in advance, up to 14 days in advance at 541-213-2405.

Does Mt. Bachelor Offer Terrain for Every Skill Level?

Mt. Bachelor boasts over 4,300 acres of skiable terrain, making it one of the largest ski resorts in North America. Beginners can find their confidence on the gentle slopes of Sunrise and Sunshine Accelerator, while intermediate skiers can enjoy the wide, groomed runs of Skyliner and Outback. For the experts, the mountain presents a challenge with its steep chutes, deep powder bowls, and tree skiing in the Northwest Territory. No matter your skill level, there’s always a new slope to conquer and a new view to cherish.

The Magic of the Summit

Reaching the summit of Mt. Bachelor is an experience unto itself. As you ascend on the Summit Express chairlift, the panoramic views of the surrounding Cascade Range are awe-inspiring. From the top, at an elevation of over 9,000 feet, you can gaze upon the iconic peaks of the Three Sisters, Broken Top, and on clear days, even Mt. Hood in the distance. The summit runs offer some of the most exhilarating skiing on the mountain.

Does Mt. Bachelor have a welcoming feeling?

Absolutely! One of the defining aspects of Mt. Bachelor is its warm and welcoming community. From the knowledgeable lift operators to the locals you’ll meet on the chairlift, everyone is united by a shared passion for the mountain and its snowy slopes. It’s not uncommon to strike up a conversation on a lift ride and end the day with new skiing buddies or tips on the mountain’s hidden gems.

Is the New Skyline Express High-Speed Chairlift in Use?

Yes! On Dec 19, 2023, the much-anticipated Skyliner Express high-speed “6-pack” chairlift began operations. It replaced a quad lift installed in 1989, the state-of-the-art Doppelmayr 6-CLD UNIG lift. Rides up the mountain have never faster or more efficient.
