Looking Back at Tetherow’s Tremendous Growth and Accomplishments for the Year
by Carrie Ramoz
As the days shorten and the frosty mornings linger, Tetherow looks back on a year of expansive growth and new possibilities. With new members joining, strong real estate sales, new restaurants, and the completion of the recreation facility, Tetherow’s developers, members, and guests have embraced the evolving Tetherow experience. Here’s a look at 2017:
As of December 1st, Tetherow’s membership had grown to 487 families. This year alone, Tetherow added 59 new members. The year over year growth in membership is substantial, especially when compared to 2010, when the membership number hovered around 50. This growth allows Tetherow to expand its amenities and programming and to have a solid future. With community leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, athletes, and more, the membership provides a vibrant personality for every event.
Adding to the rousing success of The Row, Tetherow rounded out its extraordinary dining experiences with the new Solomon’s and Tetherow Café restaurants. Opened in spring of 2017, Solomon’s is Tetherow’s fine dining experience and features a rotating menu where pheasant, elk, and seafood are thoughtfully prepared alongside vegetarian creations and decadent desserts. Featured in a variety of media outlets, Solomon’s is on track to be one of Bend’s most talked‑about foodie favorites. For those looking for a quicker bite to eat, the Tetherow Café opened in May and offers a delicious, fresh selection of made‑to‑order and grab and go options.
Just as summer began, the long‑anticipated Tetherow Sport opened for club members and resort guests. This recreation facility includes fitness and mind/body programming, cardio and weight machines, steam room and sauna, and personal training options. The year‑round heated outdoor pool is accompanied by a hot tub, cabanas, fire pits, cafe, and plenty of space for relaxing.
Programming at Tetherow Sport continues to evolve based on season and feedback. Wellness and healthy cooking programs are being explored for 2018, along with a wide variety of expanded fitness offerings.
2017 marked a fundamental shift in the underpinnings of real estate in Tetherow. Historically, land purchases were the majority of transactions in Tetherow’s residential areas. In 2013, land sales accounted for about $13,000,000 in transactions and home sales were slightly lower at $11,500,000. To date in 2017, Tetherow experienced just under $11,000,000 in land sales and home sales are a whopping $51,000,000. Not only does this show the maturation of our neighborhood to a full‑scale community, but it shows the tremendous scale of the amount of investment being made in Tetherow by the homeowners, developers, and builders.
Select homesites remain where you can build your dream home, and finished homes are also available. The Cairn and The Trailhead, Tetherow’s two vacation rental neighborhoods, continue brisk sales and construction. More information is available at Tetherow’s Sales Office, which is open 7 days a week.
- Chris Condon, Tetherow’s Director of Agronomy, was awarded the 2017 Hindahl Environmental Stewardship Award from the Oregon Chapter of the GCSAA.
- In appreciation of its work with partners, including the Deschutes National Forest, Bend Parks & Recreation District and private organizations, Tetherow was awarded the
“Great Trails by Developers” by the Professional Trail Builders Association.
- Tetherow’s golf course was ranked in the “Best Courses You Can Play: Oregon” by Golfweek.
On the Horizon
After a year of so much substantial growth, Tetherow looks forward to 2018 with a different type of excitement. 2018 marks Tetherow’s 10 year anniversary and a large scale celebration is planned for the summer. Construction and sales in the two vacation rental neighborhoods will continue and a variety of golf course projects will take place.
Thank you to all partners, members, guests and staff who have contributed to the success of 2017!
