Best places to watch football in Bend this fall

Many of us have been not-so-patiently waiting for this time since February. Football is back! Whether you’re a Duck, Beaver, Bronco, Seahawk, 49er, or another, this is the time of year to complete your errands first thing in the morning so you can dedicate the rest of your day (or weekend) to the gridiron.

For those who aren’t traveling to stadiums this fall, we’ve got our favorite ways to enjoy the game around Bend:

  • With so many other activities to do in Bend this autumn, it can be hard to dedicate 3+ hours to watching a game. If multi-tasking is your thing, experience the games through your ear buds. Maybe you’re on a trail run at Shevlin Park, throwing the ball for your bestie at the dog park, squeezing in golf at Tetherow or enjoying the Northwest Crossing Farmers Market – you can take the game with you through your phone. Top apps include TuneIn, NFL Network, College Football Radio and ESPN.
  • Bars and restaurants with plenty of TVs allow you to watch two or three games at once. Plus, it takes the pressure off you to provide snacks for your friends. Win!  The Row at Tetherow has multiple TVs and comfortable, customizable seating options for you and your favorite fans. Rotating beer taps, an extensive collection of bottled and canned beers, and a full bar and restaurant menu. Bonus: the killer views offer a nice distraction if your team is not doing well.  The Hideaway Tavern, located off 3rd St in Bend, offers a living room vibe (if your living room has 12+ TVs) with ample couch seating and a chance to relax and focus on the game. Cascade Lakes Brewing has a revamped menu for 2021 and there’s not a bad seat in the house to watch your game.
  • If your weekends look anything like mine, they involve a flurry of cleaning and prepping to host my football-loving friends. Every time I think, “It would be so nice to host somewhere that’s already clean.” Gather your crew for a football weekend that takes almost no prep work – stay at a vacation rental home for the weekend. Clean and spacious with new, large TVs, outdoor spaces that include grills, firepits and hot tubs (select homes provide TVs and heaters on the back patios — check out the Alpine Ridge 33 rental at Tetherow.), and space for the kiddos to amuse themselves, these homes provide an easy and novel way to kick back.

Enjoy your favorite team in your favorite way this season. We’re so thankful for sports and the small slice of normalcy they bring to our weekends. Stay safe, have fun and…. GO DUCKS!
