Meet Our New Members – The Wald Family

New members Brian and Lauren Wald have only lived in Bend for two weeks and they’ve already fallen in love with the area. It makes sense since both love to hike, Lauren loves yoga and entertaining, and Brian loves to run, play golf and enjoy a good IPA.

Brian is originally from Southern California and Lauren is from Missouri, but as a couple they’ve lived in Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and they are now excited to call Bend their long‑term home. A handful of things initially attracted them to Tetherow, but overall it was the lifestyle, including accessibility to hiking, Mt. Bachelor, golf club amenities, and the mountain scenery.

Besides their outdoor hobbies, Brian has always had a passion for tech start‑ups. He’s a Silicon Valley vet with early days at Yahoo! and Facebook. His latest venture is the development of a mobile app set to launch early next year that will fundamentally change the way listeners experience podcasts. Before staying at home with their children, Lauren worked in advertising and digital marketing. When she’s not chasing around two kiddos, she designs invitations and stationery and loves to plan celebrations (big or small).

The couple have two children, Parker and Gwenyth (Gwen). Parker is almost 5 years old and is obsessed with geography, Legos and dinosaurs. Gwen is 2 years old and loves riding her bike, playing with puppies and her brother. The Wald’s also have a 10 year old golden retriever named Finley that can’t resist swimming in the Deschutes.

Along with all of their hobbies and experiences, the Wald’s have some exciting activities on their bucket list. Brian wants to hike the entire Pacific Coast Trail, Lauren wants to take a pastry class in France, and they both want to take a family trip to Machu Picchu.
