TETHEROW VOTED TOP GOLF COURSE IN BEND MAGAZINE READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS

Our 18-hole David McLay Kidd course takes top honors for the second consecutive year!

Tetherow has been named the top golf course in Bend Magazine’s third annual Reader’s Choice Awards. The “best of” round up consists of four categories, 212 contenders, two weeks of voting, 10,330 votes, and 34 winners. This is the second consecutive win for Tetherow, which was also named Best Public Golf Course in the magazine’s 2019 Reader’s Choice Awards.

“When it comes to golf, Central Oregon has more than its fair share of outstanding courses so to be recognized as Bend’s best golf course is a tremendous honor,” said Chris van der Velde, Tetherow general manager and managing partner. “While we have received some wonderful national recognition, there is something truly great when your own community recognizes the work you are doing and the experience you provide.”

Tetherow was recently voted a Top 10 course in Oregon by Golf Digest and named a top-five resort in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards, landing at No.5 on the list of the Top 40 Resorts in The Midwest and West.

The golf course encompasses an 18-hole championship semi-private course with a distinctive layout by David McLay Kidd – the award-winning architect of Bandon Dunes on the Oregon Coast and Castle Course in Scotland. Tetherow was designed in a traditional Scottish link-style with the use of native grasses, fescue, and Kentucky Bluegrass, which allows for softer playing conditions.

“Scottish links-style courses are not common in the US, let alone in Oregon,” said van der Velde. “The links-style golf is traditionally done near seaside locations, so to find this in the high desert with Cascade Mountain views, is quite a unique experience.”

While the Tetherow golf course is private, access to the public is based on limited availability. Tetherow offers fully customizable golf packages for groups of 12 or more and can include lodging in the hotel or any of our vacation rental homes.
