Tetherow Gives Back

Even as we witness its unmistakable growth, Bend is still a little mountain town at heart with strong ties to community and wilderness. For all our ten years, Tetherow has shared these values.  It is our honor to lend a hand to our neighbors in need.

Since January 2017, we have donated almost 100 different packages to local charity programs. These donations include gift certificates for golf rounds, lodging, and dining—ensuring that the joy of Tetherow can be shared far and wide.

We also partner with charitable programs. Supporting the coming generation is of particular importance to us.

“Anything promoting youth programming, youth education, or youth athletics in our community we are enthusiastic about,” says Chris van der Velde, Managing Partner. “There are so many other organizations worldwide, but we have enough in our backyard that we love to support.”

Tetherow often works with Boys & Girls Clubs, KIDS Center, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

We have also partnered with The Sparrow Clubs for three years now. The program uses a “simple service model” that champions small acts of kindness and encourages young people to engage in their generation by financially and emotionally supporting a child in significant medical need. This year’s “Sparrow,” or sponsored child, is Kinsley, a vibrant girl with a big brother named Bailey and a dog named Dixie. Kinsley is currently being treated for a non-cancerous brain tumor in the Portland area. Tetherow has joined forces with Summit High School to raise funds for her ongoing medical expenses.

Tetherow also worked with The Maurice Lucas Foundation in 2018. Based out of Portland, ML20’s mission is to teach life lessons to youth through education and sport. We allied with local businesses The Loft, Bos Taurus, Pronghorn, and Crosswater to create a super-package for the Foundation—that went to Terry Stotts from the Trailblazers!

Tetherow hosts fundraisers, too. Giving In Style was a community-focused fashion show organized by Members Dietrich and Andra von Behren that took our Pavilion by storm in October. We partnered with local retailers and enlisted professional modeling coach Charleston Pierce along with a lovely team of local models to put on a choreographed runway show. The turnout was fantastic. Most importantly, all funds went to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, who ensure every child in their program receives a meal.

Tetherow also loves to accommodate its Member’s charity-related requests, like the von Behren’s. If you are seeking a donation or interested in hosting your benefit at Tetherow with special rates, please contact our donation committee through our website: https://tetherow.com/forms/donation-request/

And to all those involved in this year’s charities, thank you. Every act of kindness has kept Bend… Bend!

Here’s to more generosity in the New Year!
